Fathers Day Present

Allison gave me a nice present for Fathers Day: Her first word!

We were reading her a bedtime story, she pointed right to a picture of a dog and said, "Dooooogggg!"

Thanks sweetie!

She's on the Move

Notice I haven't been posting much lately? This is what has been keeping me busy:

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have a full fledged furniture climber. Please ignore the Annabelle hair on the couch. It's shedding season and I haven't had the time or motivation to vacuum it. Anyone want to send me a cleaning service for Mother's Day? I'd love you forever!!

Pluck

As I type right now, Allison is sitting on my lap, pulling down my shirt with one hand while she plucks out my chest hairs one by one with her other hand.

It's so damn cute that I've been letting her do it for 20 minutes. She hasn't stopped.

She upped the Ante

Last night around 4 a.m. after attempt number 3 to lay Allison down to sleep after her feeding, I decided I'd just let her cry a while to fall back asleep since nothing else was work. Big decision for me, as I generally do not believe or follow any form of "cry it out". After 5-10 minutes of this screaming/crying she belted out a loud "MAMA!!!" Ian woke up and said, "Did you hear that???" Yes, her first real word, in the middle of a crying match, one of the first times I've let her cry it out, she yells out for MAMA. Of course, I went in, picked her up, she collapsed sweetly in my arms wimpered and fell asleep. We cuddled together until the morning. Yes, I do believe she's upped the ante.

My Spidy Sense

This has been a very boring yucky weekend in our home. We had all sorts of fun plans that went out the window when I woke up Saturday with some god forsaken form of food poisoning or a stomach bug. The weather was GORGEOUS here in Virginia this weekend, which I enjoyed as much as I could via the warm air breezes from my open windows. One of the things I love about my neighborhood is that everyone has babies! Most of my neighbors had the same window opening ideas as well. This proved to make for a very interesting Saturday afternoon sick in bed. It went something like this:

- I relaxed, started drifting off to sleep
- In the distance I heard a baby cry
- I immediately bolted awake, blinked a few times, realized it wasn't Allison's cry, and went back to sleep
- Rinse and repeat

Moms have a spidy sense! I could hear some random baby crying from what must have been at least 1-2 streets over in my sleep! This is why moms are forever and ever exhausted.
